Richard Ziegler Research Services
Welcome to Richard Ziegler Research Services. I am a researcher and writer living in Ottawa.
I have 10 years of federal government experience working as a researcher, primarily with the Immigration and Refugee Board but also with the Department of National Defence. During that period, I engaged in social, political, military and historical research. I performed the research by conducting literature searches in material which included academic journals, books and the mass media, by interviewing people in Canada and abroad who worked in government, academia, human rights and other non-governmental organizations, and by examining documents in the National Archives and other libraries. The results of my research were assembled in formal reports and subsequently used by Canadian government officials in the implementation of policy.
I am the author of two published non-fiction books, "Reclaiming the Canadian Left" and "The Cults of Bosnia and Palestine." Information on these books, and several short reviews, is available at my website (www.richardziegler.ca). The writing of these books entailed considerable historical and political research in Canadian politics and international affairs.
I maintain a blog (http://richzieg.blogspot.ca) that focuses on Canadian politics, the reduction of economic inequality, and political, economic and social rights.
Ottawa is an ideal location in Canada to conduct research. In addition to the universities, there are the numerous departmental libraries of the federal government. I am able to read and converse in French, although the products of my research are written only in English. I specialize in historical and political research and am very well-read in the social sciences and humanities, and my undergraduate studies were in the natural sciences.
I charge a rate of $25 per hour.
I can be contacted at the following: Richard@richardziegler.ca
